the wheels alone are worth a good 4-5 grand. the components (shifters and chain and gears) are probably another grand on top of tht. pluys the frame...you might be looking at a $10,000+ bicycle

Sounds about right, I've seen worse, but that is quite a bit. I sure as hell can't afford it, but it would be cool to see if anyone has one for sale.

I used to work at a bike shop just north of richmond hill. at one point we had 3, 12k bikes in the store. one for a customer, one for repairs/cleaning, one tht my boss rode. such. nice. bikes.

frankly? once you spend over 6k, ur just wasting money. a 6k bike is probably the most bike you will ever need.

also, dont be afriad to checkout the used market. or even think about piecing one together yourself. its not actually that hard to do and its kinda like a computer. but it all in bits, take it to a shop, away you go!

Yeah good points. I'm actually pretty good with bikes, I did have a nice mountain bike for a while that I had to sell to pay bills, my dad was also a very serious cyclist for a while and still has all his old road bikes. Spent lots of time working on those for sure. I think someday I'm definitely going to build one up, I think it would be lots of fun.

it is! I couldnt afford a brand new 4k road bike to ride with my club/racing team, so the leader cut me a deal on an older carbon fiber frame he had. then, using connections @ work, it sourced parts, and stayed late after work to get the bike built. I'll have to grab some photos when I get home. the bike was worth, new, in parts, ~3500. I built it for about 1/2 of that.

That's awesome, you should do an Oppo post on it! I'd love to see it.
